Men’s Basketball Falls to Concordia 63-58

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team fell to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC with a 63-58 loss at Concordia Monday night in Moorhead. Andrew Doble led the Gusties, who trailed 41-31 at haltime, with 11 points off the bench. Gustavus will face University of St. Thomas Wednesday evening at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul.

Gymnastics Opens Season With 167.450-167.000 Win Over UW-Stout

The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team opened their season Monday with a 167.450-167.000 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual win over University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Gusties led by nearly four points after the first rotation but survived a pair of 9+ scores by the Blue Devils on the balance beam to secure the win. Gustavus will take part in the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational Friday night.

Women’s Basketball Comes Up Short in 71-69 loss at Concordia

The Gustavus women's basketball rallied from a 12-point second half deficit to take a one-point lead with 1:00 left in the game, but Concordia countered with a lay-up and a free throw in the final :07 seconds to claim a 71-69 win over the Gusties. Bri Monahan led all scorers with 26 points.

Women’s Basketball Defeats St. Mary’s 74-43

The Gustavus women's basketball team improved to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the MIAC with a 74-43 victory over St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn. on Saturday afternoon. Jess Vadnais led the Gusties in scoring with 21 points.

Men’s Basketball Tops Saint Mary’s 77-70; Doble Scores 27 Points

Junior Andrew Doble (Sarasota, Fla.) scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team to a 77-70 victory over Saint Mary's University Saturday afternoon in Winona. The Gusties, who trailed 39-36 at halftime, improve to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the MIAC and will face Concordia College Monday night in Moorhead.

Nordic Skiing Attacks Freestyle Course, Sprints at U.S. Nationals

Distance competition concluded Thursday with freestyle races at the U.S. Cross Country Skiing Championships at Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Mich. Laura Edlund recorded the best finish by a Gustie women's skier with a 58th place finish overall (third among Division III skiers) in the 10K women's race. Scott Kyser led Gustavus in the 15K men's race with a 151st place finish, 13th-best among skiers from NCAA Division III schools. Four Gustie skiers will compete for national sprint titles this weekend.

Monahan Leads Gusties to 64-49 Win Over St. Catherine

The Gustavus women's basketball team recorded a 64-49 win over the College of St. Catherine in St. Peter, Minn. on Wednesday night. Senior post Bri Monahan (Hutchinson, Minn.) sparked the Gusties with a season high 29 points, while junior guard Jess Vadnais (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) contributed 20 points.

Nordic Skiing Competes in Classic Race at U.S. Nationals

The Gustavus Adolphus Nordic ski team continued their season Wednesday at the opening day of competition at the United States Cross Country Skiing Championships at the Michigan Tech Nordic Training Center in Houghton, Mich. The Gusties competed in classic technique races with siblings Brynden Manbeck and Kevin Patzoldt capturing the top Gustavus finishes in their respective races. Competition continues Thursday with freestyle races (10K-women; 15K-men).

Men’s Basketball Topped by Bethany Lutheran 87-85 on Last Second Shot

Bethany Lutheran College senior guard Alfonso Mayfield scored on a layup as time expired to lead the Vikings to a 87-85 victory over the Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team Tuesday night in Mankato. Mayfield scored 20 of his game-high 32 points in the second half to lead BLC back from a 14-point deficit. Andrew Doble led five Gusties in double-figures with 16 points. Phil Sowden added 14 points and 11 assists for Gustavus (5-4), which travels to Winona Saturday to face Saint Mary's in a MIAC tilt.
