Women’s Hockey Falls to UW-Stevens Point in Season Opener 5-4

UW-Stevens Point scored three goals in the game's first seven minutes and added two others in the second period to hand the Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team a 5-4 loss Saturday afternoon at Stevens Point, Wis. Margaret Dorer scored two goals and an assist to lead Gustavus. It was the season opener for the Gusties who will host UW-Superior on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.

Football Edges Carleton 14-10 in Season Finale

Two first-half touchdowns proved to be enough Saturday as the Gustavus Adolphus football team edged Carleton 14-10 in the team's season finale in Northfield. The Gustavus defense amassed five takeaways (four interceptions, one fumble) and Jordan Stolp threw a pair of touchdowns for the Gusties. Gustavus (6-4 overall, 4-4 MIAC) closed the year on a four-game winning streak.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes 8th at NCAA Region Meet, Harren Wins Individual Title

The Gustavus women's cross country team completed its season with an eighth place finish at the NCAA Central Region meet held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. Individually, Hailey Harren won her second consecutive region title with a time of 21:37.82 over the 6,000 meter course. Harren will try to win her second consecutive NCAA Individual National Title next weekend in West Chester, Ohio.

Men’s Cross Country Finishes Strong With 8th Place Finish at NCAA Central Region Meet

he Gustavus men's cross country team turned in one of its finest performances of the season with an eighth place finish out of 23 teams at the NCAA Central Region Meet held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. The Gusties were led by Dan Foley who finished 38th in a time of 26:52.05.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming Teams Claim Dual Meet Wins Over St. Thomas

The Gustavus men's and women's swimming teams both won dual meets against St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon at the Gustavus natatorium. The men's team defeated the Tommies 158-118, while the women's team claimed a 164-132 victory.

Men’s Soccer Defeats Loras 1-0 in NCAA First Round Match, Will Face Wartburg in Second Round on Sunday

The Gustavus men's soccer team defeated Loras 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and the team will now face Wartburg College in a second round match on Sunday at 1:00 pm at Gustavus. The Knights defeated North Park 2-1 in a match that was played after the Gusties defeated the Duhawks on Saturday. Alex Groth scored the game-winning goal for Gustavus in 19th minute.

Football Player Jared Sieling Named Second Team Academic All-District V by CoSIDA

Gustavus Adolphus junior football player Jared Sieling (Watertown, Minn.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sieling, a linebacker, carries a 3.79 grade point average with a major in physics. A total of 13 MIAC players were recognized on either the first or second team.

Men’s Hockey Falls to UW-Superior 5-3

The Gustavus Adolphus men's hockey team fell to 0-2-1 overall following a 5-3 loss to #6 UW-Superior Friday night. Eric Bigham, Sami Idris, and John Arundel each scored a goal for the Gusties, who finish off the weekend homestand with a non-conference game Saturday evening against St. Scholastica.

Women’s Hockey Opens 2006-07 Season Against UW-Stevens Point, UW-Superior

Gustavus Adolphus becomes the final MIAC women's hockey team to open its season Saturday evening when it drops the puck in a nonconference game at sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point. The Gusties, who enter the season ranked third in the USCHO.com Division III Preseason Women's Poll, will then host fifth-ranked UW-Superior on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Men’s Soccer Team Chosen to Host NCAA Regional Tournament This Saturday and Sunday

The Gustavus men's soccer team, which earned an automatic berth into the 2006 NCAA National Tournament by winning the MIAC Playoff Tournament this past Saturday, has been chosen to host a four-team regional tournament this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 11 and 12. The other three teams coming to St. Peter for the weekend are Wartburg College, Loras College, and North Park University.
