Men’s Hockey Takes MIAC Opener at Concordia 2-1 for First Win of Season

The Gustavus Adolphus men's hockey team put their first mark in the win column for the 2006-07 season with a 2-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead Friday night in Moorhead. Jon Keseley and Kyle Rohlfs each lit the lamp once for the Gusties, who improve to 1-3-1 overall, 1-0-0 in the MIAC. The teams will play again Saturday afternoon.

Women’s Hockey Takes MIAC Opener from Concordia 3-2

The Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team scored a pair of third-period goals to post a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Concordia-Moorhead Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. It was the MIAC opener for both schools. Stefanie Ubl recorded the game-winner for Gustavus (2-1-0, 1-0-0 MIAC), who will host the Cobbers (1-1-1, 0-1-0 MIAC) again on Saturday afternoon.

Hailey Harren Set To Defend National Title in Cross Country

Gustavus senior Hailey Harren will attempt to win her second consecutive NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Individual Title this Saturday at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio. Harren, who won the NCAA Central Region title last weekend, will compete in a field of 280 runners for the chance to become only the third individual to win two NCAA Individual titles in NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country history.

Men’s Basketball Opens at Luther Saturday; Hosts Buena Vista Tuesday

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team opens the 2006-07 season Saturday afternoon when it faces Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. The Gusties open the home portion of the schedule next Tuesday evening, Nov. 21 when they host Buena Vista University of Storm Lake, Iowa. Both games are non-conference tilts.

Adam Miron Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior linebacker Adam Miron (Princeton, Minn. / Princeton) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week ending Nov. 12, 2006. Miron amassed a game-high eight tackles (five solo), a sack, an interception and recovered a fumble in Gustavus' 14-10 season-ending win over Carleton.

Women’s Hockey Defeats UW-Superior 6-2 in Home Opener

The Gustavus women's hockey team skated to a 6-2 victory over UW-Superior Tuesday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink. First-year Melissa Mackley (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) led the Gusties with one goal and one assist. Gustavus improves to 1-1-0 on the season while UW-Superior suffers its first loss and falls to 6-1-0.

Larson, Quealy Named All-MIAC in Women’s Soccer; Three Others Named Honorable Mention

A pair of Gustavus Adolphus women's soccer players have been named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer team for the 2006 season. Forward Amy Larson and defender Shannon Quealy, both seniors, were named to the first team, while senior midfielder Alison Rethwisch, junior forward Jenna Iaizzo and first-year defender Rachel Iblings received honorable mention.

Carrie Gundersen Named MIAC Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus women's swimmer Carrie Gundersen has been named MIAC Swimmer of the Week for her efforts in dual meets against St. Olaf and St. Thomas last weekend. Gundersen broke the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle by over 20 seconds on Friday against St. Olaf.

Men’s Soccer Falls to Wartburg 1-0 in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

The Gustavus men's saw its season come to a close with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Wartburg in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The winning goal was an own goal scored in the 80th minute of play. Gustavus completed its season with a mark of 18-3-1.

Football Edges Carleton 14-10 in Season Finale

Two first-half touchdowns proved to be enough Saturday as the Gustavus Adolphus football team edged Carleton 14-10 in the team's season finale in Northfield. The Gustavus defense amassed five takeaways (four interceptions, one fumble) and Jordan Stolp threw a pair of touchdowns for the Gusties. Gustavus (6-4 overall, 4-4 MIAC) closed the year on a four-game winning streak.
