Men’s Golf in Second Place After First Day of Bobby Krig Invitational

Saint John's University (591) leads host Gustavus Adolphus (593) by two shots after the first day of the Bobby Krig Invitational which is being played at LeSueur Country Club in LeSueur, Minnesota. The teams played 36 holes today and the tournament will wrap up tomorrow with 18 holes at LeSueur CC. Joe Schoolmeesters of Saint John's is in first place individually with a total of 73-73--146.

Women’s Tennis Hands Saint Benedict First MIAC Loss 7-2

The Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis team moved its record to 20-4 overall and 6-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 7-2 win over the College of Saint Benedict Monday in St. Peter. Tara Houlihan, Lyndsey Palen, Marla Menne and Jaime Gaard each posted a pair of wins for the Gusties, who handed the Blazers (15-2, 7-1 MIAC) their first league loss.

Lenoch, Konicek Named MIAC Softball, Baseball Players of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus softball player Audrey Lenoch (Sr., Pine Island, Minn.) and baseball player Tony Konicek (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) have been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players of the week in their respective sports for the week ending April 16, 2006.

Baseball Sweeps Augsburg 9-5 and 8-7; Konicek Goes 9-for-11 On The Day

Tony Konicek (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) went 9-for-11 in the doubleheader, reaching base 10 of the 11 times he batted, leading Gustavus Adolphus College to a sweep of host Augsburg College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball action on Saturday afternoon at Parade Stadium.

Men’s Golf Finishes Second at 20-Team Buena Vista Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf team started its spring season with a strong second place finish at the Buena Vista Invitational in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Gusties posted a team score of 296-321--617 to finish seven shots behind champion Nebraska Wesleyan (295-315 -- 610). Jordan Hawkinson finished fifth individually with a score of 75-77 -- 152.

Women’s Golf Defeats Wartburg in Dual Match

The Gustavus women's golf team took a big step towards earning a berth in the NCAA Championship with a 655-671 win over Wartburg College in a dual meet held at LeSueur Country Club on Friday and Saturday. Kimbra Kosak (79-84) of Gustavus and Megan Cress (82-81) of Wartburg tied for medalist honors.

Men’s Tennis Team Defeats Kalamazoo 6-1

The Gustavus men's tennis team defeated Kalamazoo College 6-1 in a dual match played in Milwaukee, Wis., on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches. Gustavus is rated #1 nationally, while Kalamazoo is ranked #11.

Saturday’s Gustavus Baseball Doubleheader at Augsburg to be Broadcast Over the Internet

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader between Gustavus Adolphus and Augsburg College Saturday, April 15 will be webcast through the Augsburg athletics website. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Gustavus men's golf team is in second place after the first day of the 20-team Buena Vista Invitational. The tournament will conclude with the second round on Saturday in Storm Lake. Mark Stuckey led Gustavus with an opening round 73.

Women’s Golf Leads Wartburg After First Day of 36-Hole Dual Meet

The Gustavus women's golf team holds an eight shot lead against Wartburg College after the first day of the important dual between the two nationally rated squads. The Gusties fired a first day total of 327, while Wartburg posted a total of 335.
