Stewart Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus men's swimmer Matt Stewart (Fr., Burnsville, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week. Stewart figured in three event wins and established two new pool records in the process during Gustavus' 210-80 dual win at Carleton on Saturday. Stewart won the 100 and 200 butterfly events, as well as posted a 47.5 second split in the 400 freestyle relay.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Tops Carleton 210-80

Powered by first-place finishes in 13 of 16 events, the Gustavus men's swimming and diving team downed Carleton 210-80 on Saturday afternoon in a dual at Thorpe Pool in Northfield. Scott Hagemeyer played a part in four of the victories, while Ben Hanson, Matt Stewart and Jeff Pearson each had their hand in three wins for Gustavus, which improved to 5-0 in duals this season.

Men’s Hockey Plays to 4-4 Draw With UW-Stevens Point

The Gustavus men's hockey team let a 3-1 lead slip away by allowing three second-period goals, but fought back to record a hard-fought 4-4 tie with UW-Stevens Point on Friday night in Stevens Point. Loren Havemeier scored the game-tying goal with 2:12 remaining in the second period. The Gusties move to 9-2-1 overall and will face UW-Eau Claire in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Saturday evening.

Women’s Hockey Pushes Unbeaten String to 10 With 7-2 Win Over Bethel

The Gustavus women's hockey team defeated Bethel University 7-2 in St. Paul on Friday night. The Gusties, who were playing their first match in over a month, jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game. Jenny Pusch scored two goals and Margaret Dorer contributed three assists to lead Gustavus.

Women’s Hockey Posts 5-2 Win Over Bethel

The Gustavus women's hockey team defeated Bethel by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Arena. Junior Andrea Peterson led Gustavus with a goal and two assists. Four other players scored goals for Gustavus, while the Gusties out shot Bethel 47-17.

Carleton Upends Women’s Swimming and Diving 165-135

Sara Pfau picked up individual titles in three events and a runner-up finish as a member of the 200 medley relay, but Gustavus could only capture wins in six of 16 events as Carleton edged the Gusties 165-135 in a dual at Carleton's Thorpe Pool on Saturday. The Gusties will return to action next weekend (Jan. 20-21) at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational.

Women’s Basketball Posts 75-64 Win Over Augsburg

The Gustavus women's basketball team raced out to a 27-8 lead midway through the first half en route to a 75-64 win over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis. Jess Vadnais scored 19 points to lead the Gusties, while Kenzie Consoer added 13 off the bench. Gustavus improves to 9-3 overall, 7-2 in the MIAC and will travel to St. Joseph on Wednesday for a game with league-leader College of Saint Benedict.

Men’s Basketball Slips Past Augsburg 59-46

The Gustavus men's basketball team improved to 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the MIAC with a 59-46 win over Augsburg in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties were led by junior post Jay Stien who contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Men’s Hockey Falls to UW-Eau Claire 5-2

The Gustavus men's hockey team out-shot UW-Eau Claire, 32-23, but fell to UW-Eau Claire 5-2 on Saturday night in Eau Claire. Jon Keseley scored a goal and an assist to lead the Gusties, who fall to 9-3-1 overall. Gustavus will jump back into MIAC play next weekend (Jan. 20-21) with a home-and-home series with Saint Mary's.

Gymnastics Out of UW-Eau Claire Invite

Because of a change in starting time, the Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team will be unable to participate in tomorrow's UW-Eau Claire Invitational. Originally scheduled as a 1 p.m. meet, the meet will now start at 11 a.m. due to the availability of judges. Gustavus returns to action on Friday, Jan. 20 when they host Winona State University in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual at 7 p.m. in Sponberg Gymnasium.
