Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls to Minnesota State in Opener

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team picked up only three wins in 16 events on Saturday, falling to Minnesota State University, Mankato, 170-130, in a season-opening dual Saturday at the Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. Ashley Baer won the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 100 backstroke to lead the Mavericks.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Downs Minnesota State in Opener

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team picked up wins in eight events, including both relays, to win a season-opening dual against Minnesota State, Mankato, 180-120, on Saturday at the Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. Junior Scott Hagemeyer (Willmar, Minn.) picked up four first-place finishes (two individual, two relay) on the afternoon for Gustavus.

Gustavus Registers 31-12 Win Over Carleton

The Gustavus Adolphus College football team made big plays on offense, defense, and special teams on its way to recording an impressive 31-12 win over Carleton in St. Peter on Saturday. Quarterback Jordan Stolp led the big play offense with 253 yards and three touchdowns.

Women’s Basketball Falls in Exhibition to Minnesota State

The Gustavus women's basketball team jumped out to a 41-33 halftime lead on Division II Minnesota State University, Mankato, but could not hold on in the second half as MSU went on a 21-2 run to secure a 74-67 victory in an exhibition game Friday night at the Taylor Center in Mankato. Junior post player Bri Monahan (Hutchinson, Minn.) led all players with 24 points and nine rebounds. Gustavus will open its regular season with a November 22 game at Wartburg.

Men’s Hockey Downs UW-Stout in Season Opener

The Gustavus men's hockey team built a 3-0 first period lead against UW-Stout in its seasson opener and never looked back, defeating the Blue Devils 7-4 on Friday night in St. Peter. The Gusties improve to 1-0-0, while UW-Stout suffers their first defeat of the season, falling to 2-1-0. Sophomore Cody Drysdale (Mankato, Minn.) netted a pair and assisted on three others to lead Gustavus, while junior Steven Jensen (Kentwood, Mich.) added a goal and three assists.

Harren Named MIAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year

Gustavus women's cross country runner Hailey Harren (Cold Spring, Minn.) has been named the 2005 MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year after claiming the individual title at last weekend's MIAC Cross Country Championships. Harren traversed the 6-kilometer course in 21:53, crossing the line 14 seconds ahead of runner-up Keidra Anderson of Hamline. Gustavus teammate Kourtney Joyce (Wadena, Minn.) finished third, 33 seconds behind Harren.

Football Set to Host Carleton

The Gustavus football team is set to host Carleton College this Saturday in an MIAC showdown at Lloyd Hollingsworth Field.

2005-06 Women’s Basketball Preview

The Gustavus women's basketball team enters the 2005-06 season with optimism as three starters and 11 letterwinners return from a squad that posted a record of 18-8 overall and finished fifth in the MIAC with a mark of 13-7.

Men’s Soccer Team Knocked Out of MIAC Playoffs

The Gustavus men's soccer team was knocked out of the MIAC Playoffs by St. John's on Wednesday afternoon in St. Peter. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie through 90 minutes of regulation play and then another 20 minutes of overtime. The game was decided by a shootout where the Johnnies outscored the Gusties 4-3 in penalty kicks.

2005-06 Women’s Hockey Preview

The Gustavus women's hockey team is looking to pick up where it left off last season when the Gusties won the MIAC regular season and playoff titles and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four where they finished third in the nation. Coach Mike Carroll is excited about the return of 11 veteran players and the addition of 11 talented newcomers.
