Men’s Basketball Team To Play Alumni In a Benefit for Cancer Research/SADD

The Gustavus men's basketball team will host an alumni game to benefit cancer research and Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Gus Young Court. There will be no admission, however cash donations will be accepted at the door.

Men’s NCAA Soccer Match Will Be Broadcast Via Internet

The Gustavus men's NCAA soccer match against Hope College on Friday, November 11 in Whitewater, Wisconsin will be broadcast through the Gustavus website. The broadcast will begin at 1:15 pm.

Seniors Excited About Final Shot at NCAA Tournament

The Gustavus men's soccer team was given new life Monday morning when the NCAA selection committee granted them an at-large bid to the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Gustavus' season will continue with a first round match against Hope College (Mich.) in Whitewater, Wisconsin on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Football Hosts Bethel In Season Finale

Gustavus welcomes Bethel University to Lloyd Hollingsworth Field on Saturday in the 2005 season finale for both teams. The Gusties enter the game with a record of 2-7 overall, and 2-5 in the MIAC, while Bethel enters with a mark of 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the MIAC.

Arlt Named MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus freshman wide receiver Chad Arlt (St. Michael, Minn.) has been named MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Arlt made his first collegiate start one to remember as he blocked a punt, returned a punt for 15 yards, and made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) on kick return coverage to help the Gusties post a 31-12 win over Carleton on Saturday in St. Peter. Arlt also had a big day as a wide receiver with two catches for 54 yards including a 10-yard touchdown reception.

Women’s Hockey Rebounds for 13-3 Win Over Lake Forest

The Gustavus women's hockey team scored nine goals in the third period and went on to defeat Lake Forest College 13-3 in Lake Forest on Saturday night. The Gusties, who led 4-1 after two periods, scored five goals in the first nine minutes of the third period. Seven different players scored for Gustavus including sophomore forward Laura Vanelli, who led the Gusties with four goals.

Men’s Soccer Selected for NCAA Championship Field

The Gustavus men's soccer team has been selected to the field for the 2005 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships for the third consecutive season. The Gusties, one of 17 at-large selections, will travel to Whitewater, Wisconsin to face Hope College (Mich.) in a first round match-up this weekend. Host UW-Whitewater will face Wheaton (Ill.) at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11, with the Hope-Gustavus match to follow at 1:30 p.m. The winners will play on Saturday, November 12 at 1 p.m.

Women’s Hockey Drops Opener at UW-River Falls 3-1

The Gustavus women's hockey team lost it's season opener 3-1 at UW-River Falls on Friday night. The Gusties took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Andrea Peterson in the first period, but were shut out by the Falcons the rest of the night. UW-River Falls scored the game-winner early in the third period and then iced the victory with an empty net goal in the final minute of play.

Men’s Hockey Tops UW-River Falls 4-3

The Gustavus men's hockey team moved its record to 2-0-0 on the young season with a 4-3 road victory over UW-River Falls on Saturday in River Falls, Wisconsin. Senior Steve Dusich scored a goal and an assist to lead the Gusties, while fellow senior Loren Havemeier scored the first short-handed goal of the season for Gustavus in the first period. UW-River Falls moves to 2-1-1 overall.
