The Gustavus men's hockey team defeated Augsburg 6-2 on Saturday night in St. Peter, Minn. Senior Jason Watters recorded a hat-trick to help the Gusties secure the fifth and final MIAC playoff spot.
The Gustavus men's tennis team defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 7-0 in the first round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Championship, which is being held on the Gustavus campus this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Gustavus men's hockey team lost 4-7 to Augsburg College on Friday night in Minneapolis, Minn. Freshman forward Ben Ollila and senior foward Kyle Menken each netted two goals for the Gusties.
The Gustavus women's hockey team clinched the MIAC regular season title with a 6-3 win over the University of St. Thomas in St. Peter on Friday night. Laura Stypulkowski scored two goals to lead Gustavus.
The Gustavus men's basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a convincing 65-49 win over Bethel at Gus Young Court in Saint Peter on Thursday night.
The Gustavus men's tennis team will host the fifth annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Division III Indoor Championships this Friday through Sunday at the Swanson Tennis Center. Play begins at 11:30 am on Friday morning.
Gustavus sophomore Andrea Peterson has been named Women's Hockey Player of the Week by the MIAC. Peterson scored five goals and contributed two assists for seven points as the Gusties swept the College of Saint Benedict 6-1 and 11-0.
Gustavus senior Doug Espenson has been named MIAC Basketball Player of the Week. Espenson averaged 23.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game to help the Gusties beat Augsburg (75-62), Macalester (72-60) and Saint John's (82-73).
The Gustavus women's basketball team had its season cut short after falling to Saint Mary's 67-77 on Monday night in the first round of the MIAC playoffs. The Gusties finished their season at 14-10 overall and 12-9 in the conference.
