Andrea Peterson Named MIAC Women’s Hockey of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey player Andrea Peterson has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 25, 2007. Peterson scored a goal and two assists in last weekend's sweep of the College of St. Catherine (7-2; 5-1), becoming the MIAC's all-time leading scorer (all games) in women's hockey in the process.

Shanna Dawson Named MIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore jumper/vaulter Shanna Dawson (Fairmont, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 30, 2006. Dawson met an NCAA national provisional mark in the pole vault at the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by Gustavus last Saturday. Her mark of 3.45 meters (11' 3 3/4") ranks her first in the MIAC.

Women’s Tennis Posts 9-0 Wins Over Luther, Minnesota State and St. Thomas

The Gustavus women's tennis team moved its overall record to 9-1 with a wins over St. Thomas (9-0), Minnesota State Mankato (9-0) and #22 Luther College (9-0) on Saturday, March 4. Gustavus will split its team again this weekend, sending part to Des Moines for duals against Drake and Nebraska-Omaha, while part will stay at home to face Southwest Minnesota State, Saint Mary's and Augustana (S.D.).

Women’s Swimming and Diving Third at Carthage

Sophomore Sara Pfau recorded top ten finishes in four individual events to help lead the Gustavus women's swimming and diving team to a third place finish at the 2005 TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic hosted by Carthage College on December 2-3. The Gusties scored 734 points, finishing behind team champion St. Cloud State (1141 points) and runner-up St. Olaf (798 points) and just ahead of host Carthage (705 points). The Gusties are idle until a January 14 dual at Carleton.
