Women’s Cross Country Set To Run In MIAC Championships This Weekend

The Gustavus women's cross country team will begin its championship season this weekend with the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Championships which will take place on Saturday at the Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn. The Gusties will be looking to improve on their sixth place finish from a year ago. The women's race begins at 3 pm.

Women’s Cross Country Team Finishes 14th out of 25 At Tori Neubauer Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team finished 14th out of 25 teams at the Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse on Saturday afternoon. South Dakota State University won the meet with a team total of 81, while the Gusties finished with a team total of 422. Gustavus was led by Brooke Beskau who finished 30th individually with a time of 22:46.

Brooke Beskau Finishes 19th, Helps Women’s Cross Country Team Place Seventh At Dan Huston Invite

The Gustavus women's cross country team finished seventh out of 13 teams at the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College on Saturday morning in Waverly, Iowa. Brooke Beskau led the Gustie women on the day as she finished 19th (out of 169) on the 6,000 meter course with a time of 23:25.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes 17th at Roy Griak Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team finished 17th out of 36 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis. The Gusties were led by by Brooke Beskau who placed 36th in a time of 23:51.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes 12th At Les Duke Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team opened its 2008 season with a 12th place finish out of 24 teams at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College at the Oakland Acres Country Club in Grinnell, Iowa. The Gusties were led by sophomore Brooke Beskau who placed 24th out of 328 runners with a time of 24:10 over the 6,000 meter course.

Women’s Cross Country Opens Season At Les Duke Invitational This Saturday

The Gustavus women's cross country team will open its 2008 season on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College. The Gusties return five of the team's top eight runners from a squad that finished sixth at the MIAC Championships last year. Coach Friedrich has been pleased with the team's training since reporting to campus in mid-August and is excited to get the racing season underway.

Women’s Cross Country Gets Set For Regular Season By Hosting Alumni Meet

The Gustavus women's cross country team hosted its annual Alumni Meet on Saturday morning in the Arboretum on the west side of campus. Thirty-one runners participated in the race including 25 members of the Gustavus team and six alumni. Laura Edlund, who graduated this past May and was a 2007 All-Conference performer, finished first with a time of 18:41. Brooke Beskau was the top Gustavus runner as she placed third with a time of 19:35.

Coach Jed Friedrich welcomed 26 runners back to campus to begin training for the 2008 season which will kick off Sept. 13 at the Grinnell College Invitational. Senior captains Kelly Chaudoin and Kayla Ricksham will lead a young squad that includes 17 first year and sophomore competitors.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its men's and women's Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country Teams sponsored by ESPN The Magazine and three Gustavus student athletes were honored including Drew Hood, Chris deLaubenfels, and Laura Edlund.

In perfect weather conditions the Gustavus women's cross country team finished sixth out of 12 teams with 133 points at the MIAC Cross Country Championships Saturday in St. Paul. St. Thomas finished in first place with 74 points, two points ahead of second-place Carleton. Laura Edlund (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) improved on her 29th-place finish last year by placing sixth in a time of 22:57 to earn all-conference honors.
