Women’s Cross Country Team Takes Part in MSU, Mankato Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team took part in the Caty Delwische Invitational hosted by the Minnesota State University, Mankato at Land Of Memories Park in Mankato on Saturday morning. The meet was not scored. The course was 4,000 meters and the top Gustavus finishers included Danielle Burgmeier, who placed second (15:47) and Vanessa Jones, who placed third (15:48).

Women’s Cross Country Places 19th At Roy Griak Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team finished 19th out of 37 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday. The Gusties were led by senior Vanessa Jones, who placed 82nd with a time of 25:23.7.

Running without three of its top seven runners due to injuries and the flu, the Gustavus women's cross country team showed excellent depth and registered a ninth place finish out of 16 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday. Elizabeth Hauer was the top Gustie finisher as she placed 36th in a time of 24:28. University of Minnesota-Duluth claimed the team title with a total of 45 points.

The Gustavus women's cross country team hosted its annual Alumni Meet on Saturday morning on the west side of campus in the Arboretum. Fifty-five runners took part in the race, including eight alumni and 26 current members of the Gustavus team. Nichole Porath, who graduated in 2005, finished first with a time of 17:44. Beth Hauer was the top finisher for Gustavus as she crossed the finish line with a time of 19:07.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes First at Northland Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team hit the ground running as they placed first in the Northland College Invite on Tuesday in Ashland, Wisconsin. Gustavus, which took five of the top six places in the meet, were led by junior Brooke Beskau's first place finish in a time of 23:56.

Gustavus Athletic Teams Begin Fall Sport Season With Super Tuesday

The 2009 fall sport season begins today with five different teams opening their seasons including the men's and women's cross country teams, the men's and women's soccer teams, and the volleyball team. The men's and women's cross country teams run at Northland College at 10:30 am, followed by the women's soccer team playing at Minnesota-Morris at 2:00 pm. The men's soccer team plays Bethany Lutheran College at 4 pm and then the volleyball team hosts St. Olaf in a non-conference match at 7:00 pm.

The Gustavus women's cross country team returned to campus on Monday, August 24 to begin its pre-season workouts for the 2009 season. New Head Coach Dale Bahr welcomed 27 runners to campus. The team returns eight letterwinners from a year ago and will look to improve on its seventh place finish at the MIAC Championships last season. Leading the returners will be All-Conference and All-Region performer Brooke Beskau.

Dale Bahr has been named the new head coach of both the men's and women's track and field programs and the men's and women's cross country programs at Gustavus Adolphus College. Bahr, a 1995 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, is replacing Tom Thorkelson, as the men's and women's track and field coach, and Jed Friedrich as the men's and women's cross country coach. Bahr will begin his full-time duties in August.

Women’s Cross Country Team Completes Season With 11th Place Finish At NCAA Central Region Meet

The Gustavus women's cross country team wrapped up its 2008 season with an 11th place finish (out of 26 teams) at the NCAA Central Region Meet hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday. The Gusties were led by sophomore Brooke Beskau who earned All-Region honors with an 18th place finish.

Women’s Cross Country Team Finishes Sixth At MIAC Championships, Brooke Beskau Finishes Ninth Individually

The Gustavus women's cross country team finished sixth out of 12 teams at the MIAC Championships on Saturday. The Gusties posted a team score of 185 and finished behind champion St. Thomas (66), Bethel (68), Carleton (71), St. Olaf (104), Hamline (136),and St. Ben's (169). Brooke Beskau earned All-Conference honors by finishing ninth individually in a time of 22.39.47.
