Gusties after claiming their third place trophy at the NCAA Championship.Gustavus Softball Team To Be Featured on NCAA Spring Championship Show On CBS This Saturday

The Gustavus softball team will be featured on the NCAA Spring Championship Show, which will air this Saturday, July 4 at 1 pm (Central Time) on CBS Television (which is WCCO or KEYC in southern Minnesota). The Gusties made an impressive run in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament finishing third, which is the best finish in the program's history. Coach Jeff Annis and his squad, the MIAC regular season champions at 21-1, finished with an overall mark of 42-9.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced on Monday that Gustavus Adolphus senior softball player Rachael Click and senior golfer Kimbra Kosak have been named two of 29 women's spring sport recipients of a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Click, a NFCA All-American and MIAC Player of the Year, helped the softball team to a third place finish at the NCAA Championships, while Kosak, the MIAC Senior Player of the Year, helped the golf team to a third place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Gustavus senior shortstop Rachael Click has been selected to the First Team of the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America softball squad. This is the third consecutive year that Click has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America and second consecutive year she has been a first team selection. Click, the MIAC Player of the Year and a NFCA Second Team All-America honoree, maintains a 3.91 gpa with a major in elementary education.

The Gustavus Adolphus College softball team saw its dream season come to an end after a 4-2 loss to Coe College on Monday afternoon in Montclair, New Jersey. The Kohawks scored a pair of runs in the late innings to break a 2-2 tie to grab a 4-2 lead. However, the Gusties put runners in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to pick up key hits to move them around. Gustavus, which received the third place trophy, finished the season with the program's first 40-win campaign at 42-9.

The Gustavus softball team stayed alive at the Division III World Series with a 10-4 win over Salisbury State University of Maryland on Sunday afternoon in Montclair, New Jersey. The Gusties will now play Tufts University on Sunday evening at 7:30 pm (EST). The tournament field, which started with eight teams, has now been paired down to four. The winner of the Gustavus/Tufts game will play Coe College on Monday at noon (EST).

The Gustavus Adolphus College softball team continued its impressive run in the Division III College World Series with a 5-0 win over Tufts University on Sunday evening in Montclair, New Jersey. The Gusties, who improved to 42-8 on the season, will play Coe College on Monday afternoon at 12:00 pm (EST) with the winner getting a chance to take on Messiah College at 2:30 for the national championship. The Gustavus/Coe winner would need to beat Messiah twice to claim the national title.

The Gustavus softball team saw its streak of five consecutive NCAA Tournament wins come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Messiah College on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division III World Series in Montclair, New Jersey. The Gusties will now try to fight their way back to the finals through the loser's bracket starting with a game against Salisbury State of Maryland on Sunday, May 17 at 12:00 pm (EST).

The Gustavus softball team scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated the University of Texas at Tyler 5-1 in the first game of the NCAA Division III World Series in Montclair, New Jersey on Friday morning. Emily Wendorff started the sixth inning rally with a single that drove in two runs and then Kirsten Prunty hit a two-run home run with two outs to close out the inning. Betsie Collins was the winning pitcher as she allowed only one run in six innings of work.

Softball Opens NCAA Championship Finals Play Against Texas-Tyler On Friday Morning

The Gustavus softball team will begin its journey toward winning a Division III National Championship on Friday morning in Montclair, New Jersey. The Gusties will play the University of Texas at Tyler at 11 am (10 am Central Time). Live video, live audio, and live stats are available for the game which will be played at the Montclair State University Softball Field.

Softball Team Dominates MIAC Post-Season Awards

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its 2009 Post-Season Softball Awards on Wednesday and the league champion Gusties garnered the majority of the awards. Senior shortstop Rachael Click was named the MIAC Player of the Year, Jeff Annis was named Coach of the Year, and first year second baseman Lisa Klass was named Rookie of the Year. Four players received All-Conference honors including Click, Klass, senior outfielder Emily Klein, and pitcher Erin Truebenbach.
