Women’s Basketball Keeps Pace In Standings With 58-55 Win Against Saint Mary’s

Momentum swings played a large role in the Gustavus women's basketball 58-55 win over Saint Mary's at Gus Young Court on Wednesday night. The Gusties weathered two large Cardinal runs in each half and grabbed key offensive rebounds down the stretch to keep pace with Concordia for third-place in the MIAC standings. Gustavus improved to 13-7 overall and 12-5 in the conference, while Saint Mary's dropped to 4-15 overall and 3-13 in the conference.

Women’s Hockey Continues Winning Ways With 3-1 Victory Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women's hockey team held a 2-1 lead in the third period before Mari Gunderson (Jr., Shoreview, Minn.) scored the insurance goal in a 3-1 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon in Winona. Gunderson scored the goal two minutes after Cassie Stoner tied the game for the Cardinals with a power play goal. Gustavus extended its unbeaten streak over the Cardinals to 15 games as the Gusties improved to 11-1-0 overall.

Women’s Basketball Snaps Losing Skid With 75-67 Win Over Saint Mary’s

In a physical contest where both squads combined to commit 47 fouls, the Gustavus women's basketball team used 27 points from the free throw line to post a 75-67 victory over Saint Mary's in Winona, Minn. on Wednesday night. Four Gustie players hit double-digit scoring including a game-high 27 points from Jess Vadnais (Sr., Hudson, Wis.).

Men’s Basketball Holds Off Late Saint Mary’s Rally to Claim 85-79 Victory

The Gustavus men's basketball team used a 9-0 spurt late in the second half to build a 12-point lead at 76-64 with 4:01 remaining and then held on for an 85-79 win in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties extended their current win streak to seven games and improved their record to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in MIAC play. Senior wing Kane Sivesind scored a career-high 26 points to lead Gustavus.

Men’s Hockey Struggles In 5-2 Loss at Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus men's hockey team continued its inconsistent play with a disappointing 5-2 loss against Saint Mary's on Saturday night in Winona. The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Gusties rallied to cut the lead to 4-2 after two periods. Saint Mary's scored the only goal in the third period to claim the 5-2 win.

Women’s Hockey Extends Winning Streak to Six Games after 6-0 Win Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women's hockey team extended its winning streak to six games with a 6-0 victory over Saint Mary's Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. The Gustie special team units played well for the second consecutive game as the squad converted three out of seven power play opportunities. Gustavus improves its record to 6-1-0 overall and remains undefeated in MIAC play. Saint Mary's dropped to 1-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the league.

Men’s Hockey Team Skates to 6-0 Win Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus men's hockey team exploded for four goals in the second period on their way to a 6-0 win over visiting Saint Mary's on Friday night. Sophomore forward David Martinson scored one goal and recorded three assists to lead the Gusties. Gustavus is now 4-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the MIAC.

Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader With Saint Mary’s 13-2, 9-5

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team moved to 15-7 overall and 9-3 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a doubleheader sweep over Saint Mary's University Saturday in Winona. The Gusties took game one, 13-2, and game two, 9-5, in nine innings. Gustavus pounded out 28 hits in the two games, including a home run by Pat Siering and a triple by Tony Konicek.

Men’s Tennis Posts Three Home Wins Saturday

The fifth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team improved to 16-6 overall and 8-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with home wins over University of Nebraska-Kearney (8-1), St. Cloud State University (7-2) and Saint Mary's University (9-0) at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter. The Gusties are idle until April 2 when they face Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona, Calif.

Men’s Basketball Clips Saint Mary’s 72-61

Senior Phil Sowden led all players with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team posted a 72-61 victory over Saint Mary's Saturday at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. Gustavus (11-9, 9-6 MIAC) led by as much as 23 points midway through the second half before Saint Mary's (7-13, 6-10 MIAC) mounted a late charge to cut the lead to single digits. The Gusties host Concordia Monday evening.
