Molly Mathiowetz Named MIAC Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

Gustavus junior post Molly Mathiowetz (Sleepy Eye, Minn.) has been named Co-MIAC women's basketball player of the week (Jan. 11-17) along with Shannon Renne of Augsburg College. The Sleepy Eye native helped the Gusties post a 2-0 record last week with victories coming over the University of St. Thomas (77-63) Wednesday night in St. Paul, Minn. and Bethel University (60-53) Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills, Minn.

Women’s Basketball Defeats St. Thomas 77-63, Remains Atop MIAC Standings

The Gustavus women's basketball team remained in a three-way tie for first place with an important 77-63 win over St. Thomas on Wednesday night at Concordia University's Gangelhoff Center. The Gusties, who had five players reach double figures in the scoring column, were led by Molly Mathiowetz with 22 points.

Women’s Basketball Moves Into First Place with 85-67 Win Over Hamline

The Gustavus women's basketball team defeated Hamline 85-67 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter and moved into a three-way tie for first place in the MIAC after Concordia defeated St. Ben's 68-56 win in Moorhead. Gustavus, St. Ben's, and Macalester are all currently atop the MIAC with a league mark of 7-1. Against the Pipers, the Gusties were led by Molly Mathiowetz with 18 points.

Women’s Basketball Falls To Macalester 73-61

The Gustavus women's basketball team was unable to stop an explosive second half outburst by the Macalester Scots as the Gusties lost 73-61 and suffered their first setback in conference play this season. Gustavus led 26-23 at halftime, but Macalester exploded for 50 second half points and pulled away in the final five minutes to claim the 12-point victory. The Gusties were led by Bri Radtke with 20 points.
