The Gustavus men's cross country team took part in the Caty Delwische Invitational hosted by the Minnesota State University, Mankato at Land Of Memories Park in Mankato on Saturday morning. The meet was not scored. The course was 5,000 meters and the top Gustavus finishers included Anders Bowman, who placed seventh (20:04) and John Kennedy, who placed eighth (20:11).
The Gustavus men's cross country team placed 19th out of 35 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday. The Gusties were led by Nick Ross who placed 74th in a time of 28:17.
Men’s Cross Country Places Seventh At St. Olaf InvitationalThe Gustavus men's cross country team tied for seventh place with 186 points at the 17-team St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday morning. The Gusties were paced by senior Mark Hartman who finished 15th out of 244 runners in a time of 26:55.
Men’s Cross Country Hosts Alumni MeetThe Gustavus men's cross country team hosted its annual Alumni Meet in the Arboretum. Twenty-nine runners participated in the 5,000 meter event, including 17 members of the Gustavus team and 12 former Gusties. John Leaf, who graduated last season, placed first with a time of 15:26. The top Gustavus runner was Anders Bowman who finished second in a time of 15:41.
The 2009 fall sport season begins today with five different teams opening their seasons including the men's and women's cross country teams, the men's and women's soccer teams, and the volleyball team. The men's and women's cross country teams run at Northland College at 10:30 am, followed by the women's soccer team playing at Minnesota-Morris at 2:00 pm. The men's soccer team plays Bethany Lutheran College at 4 pm and then the volleyball team hosts St. Olaf in a non-conference match at 7:00 pm.
The Gustavus men's cross country team got off to a solid start in its 2009 season with a first place finish out of four teams at the Northland College Invite in Ashland, Wisconsin on Tuesday. Gustavus was led by Mark Hartman and Anders Bowman who finished first and second overall with times of 27:52 and 28:05, respectively.

Dale Bahr Named Head Coach of Gustavus Men’s and Women’s Track and Field And Men’s and Women’s Cross Country TeamsDale Bahr has been named the new head coach of both the men's and women's track and field programs and the men's and women's cross country programs at Gustavus Adolphus College. Bahr, a 1995 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, is replacing Tom Thorkelson, as the men's and women's track and field coach, and Jed Friedrich as the men's and women's cross country coach. Bahr will begin his full-time duties in August.
The Gustavus men's cross country team wrapped up its 2008 season with a 14th place finish (out of 26 teams) at the NCAA Central Region meet hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday. The Gusties were led by senior Dan Foley, who earned All-Region honors with a 14th place finish (out of 177 runners).
Senior Dan Foley turned in one of the strongest performances of his collegiate career and finished fifth individually and helped Gustavus post a sixth place finish at the MIAC Championships which took place at Como Park Golf Course on Saturday afternoon. Foley, who earned All-Conference honors by finishing in the top 15, registered a time of 25:34.65.
