Women’s Track & Field Takes Part In Meet Of The UnSaintly
The Gustavus women’s track and field team had a strong showing at the Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline University in St. Paul on May 6-7. No team scores were kept at the meet, as 24 individual Gustavus athletes recorded at least one finish in the top-10. It was the squad’s final regular season meet before competing at the 2011 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14.

The Gustavus women's track and field team compiled 69 points to finish sixth out of 18 teams at the Falcon Invitational held in River Falls, Wis. Janney Helland had an outstanding meet, taking first place in two events and adding an 11th place finish in another.
Janey Helland Named Central Region Field Athlete Of The Year, Earns All-America Honors
Gustavus Adolphus senior Janey Helland earned All-America honors in both the pentathlon and long jump at the 2011 NCAA Championships held March 11-12 in Columbus, Ohio. In addition, Helland was also named Central Region Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Gustavus Adolphus senior indoor track and field athlete Janey Helland has qualified for the 2011 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Helland will compete in the pentathlon, long jump, and high jump at the meet. The NCAA Championships will take place March 11-12 at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
NCAA Outdoor Track And Field Championships: Day Three Women’s Recap
Gustavus Adolphus senior Kaelene Lundstrum and junior Sam Broderius represented the Gustavus women's outdoor track and field team in the final day of competition at the Division III NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. Lundstrum competed in the high jump, finishing 16th after clearing 5' 3.75". Broderius competed in the discus, finishing fourth in heat #2 with a throw of 135’ 11”, yet not making the finals. The Gusties finished tied for 44th place after compiling five points at the three-day event.
