Laura Edlund, Kathleen DeWahl, and Kelly Chaudoin will represent Gustavus at the NCAA Collegiate Ski Championships on March 5-8 in Bozeman, Mont. All three skiers earned berths by virtue of their performances in eight CCSA-qualifying races in freestyle and classic techniques this season. Gustavus Adolphus women's Nordic skiers Laura Edlund (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) and Kathleen DeWahl (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) have been named to the All-Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Second Team. Both athletes were selected to the five-member team based on their performances in CCSA Nordic ski competitions this season.
The Gustavus women's cross country team ended its season with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Central Region Meet held in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday. The Golden Gusties compiled 324 points to finish 17 points behind 13th-place Concordia (MN). Luther College won the meet with a score of 87.
Senior Laura Edlund (Forest Lake, Minn.) continues to run well as she won her first race of the season at the MSU-Mankato Open in Mankato Saturday in 15:25. No team scores were kept as Gustavus, MSU-Mankato, and St. Cloud State were the only schools competing in the 4K race. The Gusties had four runners place in the top seven. Sarah Bernhardson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) turned in her best race of the season finishing third with a time of 15:44, and being the second Gustie to cross the finish line.
Senior Chandra Daw and sophomore Laura Edlund each registered a pair of top-30 finishes to lead the Gustavus women's Nordic ski team to a third-place team finish at the NorAm SuperTour stop at Telemark Resort in Cable, Wis. last weekend. The event served as the third of five Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) qualifiers for the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. in March.
