Tanner Miest 13th in 110 Hurdles; Janna Castellano Takes 18th in Pole Vault at NCAA Championships

Gustavus Adolphus College seniors Tanner Miest and Janna Castellano each came up short in their bids for national titles Friday at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Oshkosh, Wis. Miest failed to qualify for Saturday's 110-meter hurdle final by posting a 13th-place qualifying time of 14.73 seconds, while Castellano took 18th in the women's pole vault.

Klaers, Castellano Fourth at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

Gustavus seniors Andy Klaers and Janna Castellano both picked up fourth place finishes Friday at the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships held in the Sports and Recreation Center on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. Klaers posted a personal-best throw of 58-8 in the weight throw, while Castellano broke her own school record with a 12-3 1/2 effort in the pole vault. Klaers and Castellano receive All-America honors by finishing in the top eight.

Janna Castellano, Andy Klaers Qualify for NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Win MIAC Meet Awards

Gustavus Adolphus College senior pole vaulter Janna Castellano and senior thrower Andy Klaers have selected for the field at the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held March 9-10 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Both will compete Friday, March 9 with Castellano hitting the vault runway at approximately noon EST and Klaers entering the thrower's ring at approximately 1 p.m. EST.

Women’s Track and Field Fourth at MSU Ted Nelson Classic

The Gustavus Adolphus women's indoor track and field team was shut out of any event wins but tallied 12 top-five finishes as the Gusties finished fourth at Saturday's Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato. Janna Castellano placed fourth in the pole vault with a NCAA provisional-qualifying mark of 11 feet, 6 1/4 inches, while Sari Lindeman finished second in both the long jump (17-0) and triple jump (36-0) to lead the Gusties.
