Cross Country Runner Hailey Harren Named to Academic All-America First Team
Gustavus Adolphus College junior distance/cross country runner Hailey Harren (Cold Spring, Minn.) has been named to the 2006 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Women's College Division Track & Field/Cross Country First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Track Sprinter Jack Henkemeyer Named to Academic All-America Third Team
Gustavus Adolphus College senior track sprinter Jack Henkemeyer (Plymouth, Minn.) has been named to the 2006 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Men's College Division Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Henkemeyer, who in May was selected as one of 58 student-athletes from across the country to receive a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, was chosen for the third team.
Men’s Tennis Player Roy Bryan Named to Academic All-America First Team
Gustavus Adolphus College senior men's tennis player Roy Bryan (Edina, Minn.) has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Bryan was selected to the first team. The Men's At-Large team for the Academic All-America program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Gustavus Among National Leaders in Academic All-America Selections
Gustavus ranks 14th in a recent list of the number of student-athletes earning Academic All-America honors at national four-year institutions. The Gusties have had 15 student athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in the past three years.
