Men’s Nordic Skiing Takes St. Olaf Invitational Title; Women Finish Second
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams competed in the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with the Gustie women finishing second and the men taking home the title. The invitational was held at Theodore Wirth Park in St. Paul, Minn., and featured a handful of alums from the three schools participating in the event.
Lund & Wagner Shoulder Heavy Load For Gustie Nordic Skiers At USSA Super Tour
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams each featured one skier on the course Saturday at the U.S. Ski Association Michigan Tech Super Tour being held in Houghton, Mich. The two-day event serves as the final NCAA Qualifier before the Central Collegiate Ski Association Championships, which will be held February 12th and 13th in Marquette, Mich. Injury and illness reduced the number of Gustie skiers participating at the event in half, as Erica Hett and Jens Brabbit sat out Saturday’s race.
Men’s & Women’s Nordic Skiers Successfully Wrap Up Mayor’s Challenge
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams both overcame obstacles to post successful finishes in the classic on the final day of competition at the Mayor’s Challenge, which was held on Sunday at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minn. The men secured a fourth place finish amongst Central Collegiate Ski Association teams while the women finished in sixth place to wrap up a productive weekend for the Gusties.
Nordic Skiers Hold Strong On First Day Of Mayor’s Challenge
The men’s and women’s nordic ski teams turned in a set of solid performances at the Mayor’s Challenge SuperTour being held this weekend at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minn. Competing in the freestyle event on Saturday afternoon, the Gustie women placed sixth amongst the nine Central Collegiate Ski Association teams at the event while the men placed seventh.

The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams wrapped up competition at the Hilltop Invitational in style on Sunday with several noteworthy races landing the teams in third and fifth place, respectively, in the overall standings for the classic event.

After the first day of competition at the Central Collegiate Ski Association's Hilltop Invitational, the Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams have both provided promising races in spite of the stiff level of competition. The men’s team skied its way to a fifth place finish in the 10K Freestyle and the women placed sixth in the 5K Freestyle.

The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams each sent two participants to Rumford, Maine for the U.S. Nordic Skiing Championships that took place January 5-6. Jens Brabbit put himself in good position to qualify for the NCAA Championships with an 85th place finish in the 15 kilometer classic race.
Nordic Ski Teams Open With Productive Performances in Michigan
The Gustavus men's and women's nordic ski teams opened their 2010-11 seasons at the Grandview Classic in Ironwood, Michigan. No team scores were kept, however both teams turned in solid performances against a strong field. Jens Brabbit led the men's team with an eighth place finish in the freestyle race on Saturday and a fifth place finish in the classic race on Sunday. Erica Hett led the women's team with a 12th place finish in the freestyle race and a 10th place finish in the classic race.
Jens Brabbit Returns From Competition At the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships
Gustavus Adolphus junior Jens Brabbit returned home to Minnesota after competing at the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships held March 10-13, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Brabbit completed the most successful season ever had by a Gustavus male skier with a 34th place finish in the 10km classic race on Thursday, finishing with a time of 31:57.6, and a 39th place finish in the 20km freestyle on Saturday with a time of 55:09.5.
