The Gustavus softball team picked up a 5-2 upset victory over St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon in Shoreview, Minn., but fell in game two of the MIAC Playoff title game 8-0 to the Tommies, ending its season with a 34-9 overall record.
The Gustavus softball team advanced to the MIAC Playoff title game Saturday afternoon with a 7-1 victory over Saint Mary's in Shoreview, Minn. The Gusties will face St. Thomas in the championship game at 1:00 p.m. The Tommies defeated the Gusties 9-0 Friday.
The Gustavus baseball team's doubleheader today versus St. Thomas has been postponed to Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gustie Baseball Field in St. Peter, Minn. Tomorrow's scheduled doubleheader against Buena Vista University has been cancelled.

Gustavus senior Danielle Burgmeier broke the Gustavus women’s outdoor track record in the 400-meter hurdles Wednesday night at the Mankato State University Twilight Meet in Mankato, Minn. Burgmeier crossed the finish line first with a time of 1:03.42, breaking the previous record of 1:03.61 set by Carlie Hanson in 2006.
Gustavus' Tyler McMorrow (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) picked a good time to shoot the best round of his young college career. The Gustie sophomore turned in his best collegiate score to finish under par and take second place among a talented field at Sunday's 36-hole Saint John's Spring Invitational. In the process, he helped Gustavus move from seventh place after round one, to second place in the final standings as the top Division III team in the field. For his performance, McMorrow has been named the final MIAC Men's Golf Athlete-of-the-Week of the 2011-12 season.
The Gustavus men’s golf team concluded its 2012 spring campaign with a second place finish at the Saint John’s Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The Gusties sat in seventh place after day one with a score of 297 and then broke out in day two with a season-low round of 280 to finish with a total of 577 (+9). The 18-hole round of 280 was the lowest recorded by the men’s team since the Gustie Spring Classic in 2004 and the second lowest in program history.
The Gustavus men’s tennis team concluded its 2012 regular season campaign with an 8-1 victory over Luther College Sunday at the Brown Outdoor Courts in St. Peter, Minn. The 20th-ranked Gusties end the regular season with a 19-7 overall record, while the Norse fall to 21-6.
The Gustavus men’s track and field team hosted its second meet of the season Saturday at the Gustavus track complex for the 12th Annual Drake Alternative.
