SAINT PETER, Minn. — Coming off of their first loss of the season, the Gusties were looking to redeem themselves against Macalester.

And they did not disappoint.

A balanced Gustie offense rolled past the Scots Saturday afternoon, 89-40, in a convincing MIAC victory.

The Gusties built their lead early in the first quarter, scoring 11 points before the Scots could put one on the board. The Gusties went on a 12-point run in the second quarter to bring the lead to as many as 31, heading into the locker room leading 50-19 at the half.

The Gusties continued to pile on the points in the second half of the game, building a third quarter lead of 41 points at 66-25. The fourth quarter was more of the same, as the Scots only managed eight points to the Gusties’ 17, wrapping up the game just one point shy of a 50-point lead, 89-40.

Every Gustie saw time on the floor, and three players landed double-digit points, as Anna Sanders (Sr., Vadnais Heights) totaled 17, Izzy Quick (Jr., Brooklyn Park) added 12, and Rachel Kawiecki (So., Richfield) posted 11. Kylie Baranick (So., Maple Grove) posted seven assists for a team lead, while Kawiecki and Grace Benz (Sr., Steele, N.D.) shared the team lead in rebounds with six each.

The Gusties improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The team returns to action on Wednesday, heading to Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf for a 7 p.m. tip off.
