BOX SCORE

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Gustavus women’s soccer team entered Saturday’s MIAC match-up against Carleton having just posted four goals in their MIAC opener a few days earlier. But, for the first time this season, the Gusties found themselves facing a deficit greater than one goal against the Knights.

Less than a minute into play, Hadley Twichell put one past Gustie goalkeeper Abby Goodno (Sr., Little Canada) to take the lead.

Just eight minutes later, the Knights would find the back of the net again, as Casey MacVeagh netted her league-leading fifth of the season. Loren Arzayus would close out the scoring for the Knights in the first half, adding the third of the game.

MacVeagh wasn’t done for the day, though, as she would add her second of the game and sixth of the season five minutes into the second half. The Knights rounded out their scoring adding one more before off the foot of Cate Patterson in the 72nd minute.

While the Gusties would add one of their own in the last two minutes of play, the Knights would emerge victorious in Saturday’s MIAC contest by a score of 5-1.

The Gusties were outshot 21-7, with Ellen Becken (So., Prior Lake) leading the Gusties with two shots.

Goodno finished Saturday’s game suffering four goals on four shots before Justine Holm (Sr., Shakopee) would step in midway through the second half. Holm suffered one goal on one shot in her 25 minutes played.

The Gusties are back in action Wednesday for a non-conference match-up against Central at 4 p.m in Saint Peter at the Gustie Soccer Field.
