Randy Stuckey Named WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year Posted on May 31st, 2022 by

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced the 2021-22 national coaching awards for Division III women’s collegiate golf on Tuesday and Gustavus assistant coach Randy Stuckey was named the Division III Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year.

During the 2021-22 season, Stuckey helped the Gustie women take third at the Division III Classic in September and place second at the MIAC Championships in October. Stuckey coached the women’s team as it set the 36-hole program record score of 604 at the Wartburg Fall Invite. He also coached three women’s All-Conference honorees and an All-Region golfer. Stuckey has been the assistant coach for both the Gustavus men’s and women’s golf programs for the past 15 years.

In 2005, the WGCA began recognizing the outstanding Assistant Golf Coach of the Year. This honor is awarded annually in Division I, II and III. Division III assistant coaches were first recognized in 2020. Criteria that is reviewed includes job responsibilities that helped improve the team’s performance, individual scoring average improvements, roster turnover and the impact on the team’s performance, and the coach’s professional contributions and/or honors in golf. In addition, the committee also reviews the team’s place finishes/wins/record (including comparison with other nominees) and team improvement from past year to current year.
