Donnelly, Nelson, Poe to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Posted on May 23rd, 2022 by

SAINT PETER, Minn. – Gustavus women’s track & field student-athletes Elizabeth Donnelly (Sr., Langely, Wash.), Birgen Nelson (Jr., Edina), and Annika Poe (Jr., Big Lake) have qualified and will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio. The championships will be held at SPIRE Institute and are hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.

Donnelly will compete in the 800-meter and is seeded ninth with a time of 2:10.56. Donnelly earned All-America status in the 800-meter at the NCAA Indoor Championships, taking seventh place with a time of 2:14.49. The outdoor 800 will run prelims at 4 p.m. Friday and finals at 1:50 p.m. Saturday.

Nelson will compete in both the 100- and 400-hurdles. She owns the top time in the 100 at 13.71 and is seeded fourth in the 400 at 1:00.64. Nelson is a returning All-American in both races after taking second in the 100 (13.90) and fifth in the 400 (1:02.33) at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships. This year’s 100-hurdles will run prelims at 2:10 p.m. Friday with finals at 12:50 p.m. Saturday. The 400 will run prelims at 6:10 p.m. Thursday and finals at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

Poe will compete in the shot put and is seeded seventh with a mark of 14.31 meters (46-11.25). Poe earned All-America in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships with an eighth place finish at 44-10.25. The shot put prelims and finals are 2 p.m. Friday.
