Day Two Results

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Five Gusties continued to race against the best in Division III on day two of the NCAA Championships.

“On the men’s side, Andrew is having a great meet- setting a new school record in the 50 Freestyle on Wednesday and crawling back from 30th to 16th,” said Head Coach Jon Carlson. “He is definitely having a great meet so far and his 100 Fly today was a lifetime best. The women have also been doing well. This meet is so fast and Ellen getting 17th yesterday, putting together a great swim was tough to take but we are competing against the best of the best.”

As the single competitor to make it from the MIAC,  Andrew Becker (Jr., Northfield) finished sub 50 in the 100 Fly placing 41st after touching the wall at 49.77.

Ellen Hofstede (Jr., Hopkins) also had a solid performance placing 40th in the 200 Free (1:54.02).

On the relay side, the Gustie team of Hofstede,  Marit Isaacson (Fy., Saint Paul), Peterson, Abigail Yartz (Jr., Bemidji) started out the day qualifying for finals in the prelims (1:34.62) in the 12th seed and placed 13th overall in the finals with a time of 1:34.62.

“Tonight’s relay was a strong performance, Lucy Peterson (So., Saint Paul), split a 22.8 which is one of the fastest we’ve seen in program history and I’m very pleased at where we’re at halfway through and we’re excited for the next two days.”

The Gustie women will continue to represent the Black and Gold tomorrow morning in the pool in the 800 Free.
