SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team honored its seniors in their game against St. Scholastica on Thursday night where they were dealt a 2-1 loss. With the loss, the Gusties move to 5-14-4 overall, and 0-8-3 in the MIAC.

The Saints were all over the Gusties in the first period and wore down on the Gustavus defense, scoring in the top left of the net at the 6:29 mark. St. Scholastica continued to apply pressure and outshot the Gusties 12-1 before closing out the first period.

 Micah Gernander (Fy., Coleraine) and Dan Sandvig (Sr., Savage) connected behind the net before passing it into the slot to Toby Sengvongxay (Sr., Luverne) who fired it into the top left corner on a quick wrist shot, evening the score 1-1 with two minutes left in the second period.

Despite putting out a tough battle in the third period and having multiple scoring chances, at 12:17 St. Scholastica found the back of the net with a game winning goal. Grant Boldt made 21 saves in the loss.
