LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Gustavus gymnastics team traveled to UW-La Crosse Friday and scored a 181.975. The Eagles won the dual with a score of 185.650.

“Overall today was a great day,” said Head Coach Aryn DeGrood. “We were happy to get the opportunity to compete today and represent Gustavus. And wow did they do it well with the second highest opening meet score in program history. We know this team can do big things and this is the proof.”

The Gusties scored 45.725 on vault, 45.125 on bars, 45.125 on beam, and a 46.0 on floor.

“It was a full team effort today, competitors and non-competitors. Everyone did their part and help us succeed. The bar squad kicked it off in a phenomenal way and the ball kept rolling from there.”

Sophia Redding (Sr., St. Paul) led off for the Gusties, impressing recording a first place finish and career high on bars with a 9.6, tying third in program history alongside Amanda Parker (2001-5) and Sam Ardy (2015-19).

Annie Corbett (Jr., Brookfield, Wis.) kept the momentum going, finishing first on beam with a score of 9.625, second in floor (9.425), and an all around score of 36.875. Brooke Merila (Sr., St. Michael) rounded out the Gustie score sheet with a third place finish in floor (9.4).

The Gusties next compete on January 14th when they travel to Hamline.
