Dobson, Schwartz Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team Posted on November 11th, 2021 by

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Gustavus men’s soccer players Trace Dobson (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Cole Schwartz (Sr., Jakarta, Indonesia) have been selected to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which was announced Thursday. Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Dobson, a public accounting and math major with a 3.89 GPA, played and started in 18 games this season. Dobson led the Gustie midfielders with three goals this season, all of which were game-winners, which also was a team high. The Sioux Falls native earns his second Academic All-District selection after receiving the honor in 2019. He also received the 2019 MIAC Elite 22 Award and was recently named MIAC All-Conference honorable mention.

Schwartz, an education major with a 3.96 GPA, played in 19 games this season with 12 starts, ranking second on the team with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. In two seasons with the Gusties, Schwartz has accumulated 79 career points on 34 goals and 11 assists. He was named First Team All-America in 2019, along with First Team All-North Region and MIAC All-Conference honors. During the 2019 season, Schwartz tallied 55 points, which was the most by a MIAC player since 1975 and ranked second in Division III. His 24 goals in 2019 were third most in the country. Schwartz has nine game-winning goals and four career hat tricks.

This year’s District 6 Team, which includes student-athletes from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, has 11 student-athletes, including nine from the MIAC. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected next month.
