SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s soccer team took a 2-1 overtime loss in the MIAC Quarterfinal on Monday to Saint John’s. With the loss, the team ends 14-5 overall.

Saint John’s struck first off of a costly Gustavus foul with a penalty kick goal. The Gusties responded five minutes later when Matthew Gibbons (Sr., Minneapolis) sent in a corner kick for Ethan Miller (Fy., St. Cloud) to tap it in for an equalizer. Gustavus outshot the Johnnies 15-1 before closing out the first half tied 1-1.

Both teams battled it out in the second half, with the Gusties outshooting the Johnnies 6-2 but were unable to get past a locked in Saint John’s goalkeeper who forced an overtime.

Five minutes into the extra period, the Johnnies found the back of the net to end a Gustavus playoff run.

The Gusties will await their fate for a possible bid into the NCAA Tournament as they sit No. 2 in the North Region.
