NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s track & field team competed in day two of the Carleton Relays on Saturday and came home with seven event victories.

Wyatt Quiring (Jr., Fairmont) won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 11.45 and 22.52. Taylor Rooney (Sr., Andover) finished the 110-hurdles more than one second faster than the second place time, clocking in at 14.00. Rooney teamed with Seth Zeitchick (So., St. Paul), Alexander DuMoulin (Jr., Shorewood), and Quiring to win the 4×100 relay in 42.54. DuMoulin also won the long and triple jumps with distances of 6.68 meters and 13.67 meters. In the lone throwing event Saturday, Connor Gag (Jr., New Ulm) won the discus with a distance of 41.93 meters.

“We approached today with a developmental mindset, trying out some new concepts with the guys,” Assistant Coach Nathan Harder said. “The unexpected San Diego weather was a nice bonus which put us into a relaxed mindset over the course of the morning, where our guys did really well for themselves, competing against each other and mixing things up left us in a good spot. We will be able to use today as a jumping-off point as we move into next week and the competitions beyond.”

Gustavus hosts the Drake Alternative next Saturday.
