Women’s Track Breaks Records at St. Thomas Posted on February 26th, 2021 by

SAINT PAUL, MINN. – The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team was back in action on Friday night competing at St. Thomas. 

Results

Julia Severson (So., St. Cloud) gave the Gusties a strong start with the first event of the evening winning the 3000m with a time of 10:47.43. Kourtney Kulseth (Sr., New Richland) kept the momentum going to win the mile with a time of 5:31.

Birgen Nelson (So., Edina) won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.76 and the 200m with a time of 25.51, both breaking school records to win the event. 

Elizabeth Donnelly (So., Langley, Wash.) kept things going with a mark of 2:17.82 in the 800m to place first in the event, also breaking a school record. 

In field events, Annika Poe (So., Big Lake) led the pack in shotput to win with a 13.21m score.  Doris-Klein Mor (Jr., St. Peter) won in pole vault with a score of 3.74m. Madi Kes (Fy., Jordan) rounded things out winning triple jump (11.69m) to break a school record and winning in long jump (5.10m).

“I’m really proud of our team tonight,” said Head Coach Aaron Lund. “We had four school record breaking performances and so many more personal bests. It was a great atmosphere and our team competed with a lot of heart tonight. Our team is growing stronger together every meet. They are competing for each other and giving their best effort. It’s a great sign of a united team and I’m excited to see what they will accomplish next.”
