SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team hosts Saint Mary’s at 7 p.m. Wednesday for its final home game of the season. The Gusties enter the contest 8-15 overall and 8-10 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals are 12-11 overall and 9-9 in the league.

GUSTAVUS GAME NOTES

The Series: Tonight’s game marks the 179th meeting between Gustavus and Saint Mary’s with the Gusties leading the all-time series 126-52. The Gusties won the first game of this season’s series 76-65 on Jan. 8 in Winona. Kaleb Feahn scored a career-high 26 points, tying a program record with 14 made free throws.

Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus looks to get off the schneid tonight having lost its last six games, most recently losing 65-58 to Bethel on Saturday. Through 18 conference games, the Gusties average 72.9 points and shoot 45.0 percent from the floor, ranking fifth and seventh, respectively, in the MIAC. Their 4.2 blocks per game is best in the league and their 35.1 rebounding average is third in the MIAC. Kaleb Feahn leads the offense with 13.9 points off the bench. He shoots 48.6 percent from the floor and 49.3 percent from beyond the arc. Logan Rezac leads the starting five with 12.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Jake Guse is a presence in the post, averaging 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and leads the league with 47 blocks.

Scouting the Cardinals: Saint Mary’s has won four of its last six games, but most recently lost 83-78 to Hamline on Saturday. Through 18 conference games, the Cardinals average 71.2 points and shoot 44.8 percent from the field, ranking seventh and eighth, respectively, in the league. They are strong on the boards with 35.4 rebounds per game, ranking second in the conference. Eli Cave is the player to watch, averaging 19.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and shooting 53.6 percent from the floor. Raheem Anthony also averages double figures with 11.2 points along with a team-high 6.1 rebounds.
