BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2019 All-Conference Softball Team on Monday with Aly Freeman (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) representing the Black and Gold with All-MIAC recognition. In addition, Ashley Neuenfeldt (So., Bloomington, Minn.) was an Honorable Mention honoree.

Freeman earns her first All-Conference honors after being named Honorable Mention last season. Freeman, who was named to the All-Conference team as a pitcher, had a very successful season as one of the team’s two primary pitchers, as well as a hitter in the middle of the Gustie lineup. On the mound, Freeman compiled an 8-9 record overall, pitching 101.2 innings, posting an ERA of 2.96, and striking out 70 batters. At the plate, the Omaha native hit .349 while slugging a team-leading .670. The power threat was tied for the MIAC lead with eight home runs and she also posted a team-best 11 doubles and 30 RBI.

Neuenfeldt was named to the honorable mention team for the second consecutive season as a pitcher for the Black and Gold. The sophomore was part of the 1-2 punch pitching combination with Freeman and hit in the No. 1 or No. 3 spot in the batting order all season. On the hill, Neuenfeldt threw the most innings for Gustavus, posting an 8-10 record in 122.1 innings to go along with a 2.86 ERA and 76 strikeouts. At the plate, the Bloomington native hit .353 this season to lead the team, along with a team-high 27 runs.

Kenzie Skuza (Fy., Princeton, Minn.) was named the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
