Men’s Tennis Starts Dual Match Season With a Split Posted on February 2nd, 2019 by

FARGO, GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Gustavus men’s tennis team kicked off its 2019 dual match season with a win and a loss Saturday. The Gusties lost 5-2 at Division I North Dakato before a split squad defeated Concordia 8-1 to begin MIAC play.

“The guys competed very well today,” Head Coach Tommy Valentini said. “We had some good looks at it in doubles against a talented UND team and stayed very positive and poised in the singles when things got tight. Our leaders stepped up nicely and our young guys made some great strides.

“Against Concordia it was a strong start in the doubles and we stuck to our plan well in the singles. It was great to get this group our first look at outside competition. We handled the things within our control very well and we’ll look to keep growing next week in Florida as we have some exciting opportunities ahead of us down there.”
