HOUSTON, Tex. – The Gustavus women’s golf team saw their score improve on day two and jumped up one spot in the overall rankings as well. The Gusties posted a 323 and finished the event in eighth place overall, with Grinell college winning the event.

Erin Ericson (Fy., Onalaska, Wis.) played extremely well on day two by tallying a 75 which put her in a tie for 13th overall in the two-day event. Sydney Regalado (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) also had a very solid round by shooting an 81 which moved her up 14 spots on the overall leaderboard. Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) finished the day with an 84 that placed her in a tie for 33rd place overall on the event.

On the day, coach Randy Stuckey said, “Our goal today was to come out with confidence on the first tee and to move up in the field and we accomplished both tasks. Erin Ericson had a great round for us with some great saves around the green and great putts. It was also really nice to see Sydney shoot an 81. The course played long for her but she held her own by staying out of trouble and showcasing her short game. Overall, we are just very thankful for this great opportunity to participate in such a strong field.”

The Gusties will next be in action on Saturday for the MIAC Championship in Becker, Minn.
