MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Gustavus softball team picked up its first wins in conference play Tuesday, sweeping Concordia 7-1 and 5-3. Ashley Neuenfeldt (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.) won both games in the circle, going the distance in game one and four innings in the night cap.

Gustavus 7, Concordia 1

Sidney Welp (So., St. Peter, Minn.) scored on an error in the second for the day’s first run and again in the fourth on a sacrifice fly. The Gusties plated three runs in the sixth on an RBI single followed by a bases-load hit by pitch and a walk. Insurance runs were added in the seventh as Emily Webb (Jr., Maple Lake, Minn.) knocked in two with a base hit.

Neuenfeldt held the Cobbers scoreless until the seventh when they scored on a two-out error. The first-year threw her fifth complete game of the season and allowed five hits with eight strikeouts. She also helped her own cause at the place with two hits, a walk, and a run. Webb, Welp, and Ashley Beise (Jr., Loretto, Minn.) had two hits apiece as well.

Gustavus 5, Concordia 3

The Gusties rolled their momentum into game two, scoring a couple runs in the first frame. Webb doubled home a run and later crossed home courtesy of an error. Beise batted in her second run of the day in the fourth inning before Concordia ended the shutout in the bottom half on an RBI single.

Neuenfeldt lasted four innings on the mound, surrendering one run on two hits, including seven Ks to zero walks. At the plate, she added two hits, a walk, and two runs. Webb also connected for a pair of hits and as many RBI.

Aly Freeman (So., Omaha, Neb.) pitched two innings and gave up two runs on three hits, while Ariel Debeer (Fy., Luverne, Minn.) picked up the save with a hitless seventh.

Gustavus (6-14, 2-4 MIAC) travels to the Augsburg Dome on Thursday night for a doubleheader against Macalester. Game one is set for 8 p.m.
