TUCSON, Ariz. – The Gustavus baseball team’s seven-game win streak ended Tuesday at the Tucson Invite as it lost 10-1 to Williams College. The Gusties committed five errors and allowed just four earned runs, while falling to 8-4 overall.

Gustavus scored its only run of the game in the second inning to take an early lead. Brock Peterson (Jr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) reached on a fielder’s choice, advanced to second on an error and third on another fielder’s choice, and then scored on an RBI single by Cam Hufendick (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.).

Williams answered with a run in the bottom half on a two-out rally that included two singles, an error, and a passed ball. Ephs then scored the game-winner in the fourth on an error and a double. Williams erupted for four runs in the fifth on three hits and three errors, and then added four runs on four hits in the sixth.

Mitchell Nordin (Fy., Mahtomedia, Minn.) suffered the loss after five and one-third innings. He allowed nine runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks. Alex Eichner (So., Hamburg, Minn.) tossed the final two and two-thirds, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Gusties collected just three hits with Dexter Leer (So., Owatonna, Minn), Nolan Lepel (Jr., Plato, Minn.), and Hufendick each registering a single.

Gustavus wraps up play tomorrow at the Kino Sports Complex with a doubleheader. The Gusties face Middlebury at 10 a.m. (PST) and then Williams at 1:30 p.m.
