ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team begins a two-match stretch on the road tonight as it travels to Hamline University for a 7 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference bout. The Gusties enter the match with a 20-6 overall record and 8-1 mark in the MIAC, while the Pipers are 11-9 overall and 4-5 in the league. The Gusties have already clinched a spot in the MIAC Playoffs, while the Pipers are on the outside looking in and will try to play spoiler in the seeding battle.

Gustavus is coming off a four-set victory over Saint Benedict last Saturday. The Gustie offense was well spread out, led by Taylor Trautman (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) and Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.) with 14 and 10 kills, respectively. Trautman posted an impressive .444 attack percentage while Sam Haugen (So., Becker, Minn.) was also efficient on the attack with a .389 clip on eight kills and one error. Nora Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) was all over the court, registering 42 assists, nine kills, and eight digs, to go along with an impressive .471 attack percentage. As she has been all season, Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.) was the constant on the back line with a team-high 16 digs.

After 26 matches this season, Hanson leads the offense with 333 kills, which ranks second in the MIAC, averaging 3.30 per set. Holtan also ranks second in the league, averaging 9.82 assists per set. The sophomore setter has proven to be a threat on the attack as well with a .287 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the conference. Luethmers is the team’s leader on defense with 505 digs, averaging 4.76 per set (9th/MIAC).

Hamline most recently shut out UW-Superior on Monday. Beth Goodman led the offense with 13 kills and added four blocks. Morgen Coleman distributed 36 assists and Amelia Jensen posted 24 digs. After 20 matches this season, Julia Zolnosky leads the offense with 203 kills (2.94 per set), Coleman is the main setter with 578 assists (8.38 per set), and Jensen leads the back line with 348 digs (5.04 per set).
