ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team is on the road tonight against Martin Luther College for a non-conference match at 7 p.m. in New Ulm, Minn. The Gusties enter with a 14-2 overall record, while the Knights 3-15 overall.

The Gusties come into tonight’s match on a 14-game win streak after defeating St. Thomas in straight sets 25-21, 26-24 and 25-16 last Saturday. The win was the first over St. Thomas since 1997 as well as the first shutout over the Tommies since 1985. The win streak of 14 is tied for the second longest streak in the 47-year history of the program.

The Gustie defense held the Tommies to a .117 attack percentage (30-111, 17 errors), while the offense posted a .200 attack rate (45-130, 19 errors).

Lauren Hanson (Fy., Redwood Falls, Minn.) led the attack with a match-high 15 kills on 28 attempts and five errors for a .357 kill rate. Nora Holtan (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) contributed 31 assists and 10 digs for another double-double, while two other Gusties also tallied double digit digs – Brittany Luethmers (Fy., Prior Lake, Minn.) with 15 and Taylor Trautman (Jr., Hutchinson, Minn.) with 12.

Through 16 matches this season, Taylor leads the Gusties with 165 kills (2.95 per set) and a .365 attack percentage. Holtan has recorded the bulk of the setting responsibilities with 412 assists (7.63 per set). And Luethmers leads the back line with 241 digs (4.30 per set).

After starting the season 1-15, Martin Luther has won its last two matches – 3-0 over Bethany Lutheran on Sept. 29 and 3-0 over Northland last Saturday.

The Knights dominated throughout the match against Bethany Lutheran, hitting .202 for the match while holding Northland to a .010 attack percentage.

Rylee Weisensel (So., New Ulm. Minn.) was the top hitter for MLC with eight kills, while Kira Grev (So., Oakdale, Minn.) and Jade St. Germaine (So., Watertown, Minn.) each finished with seven kills apiece.

MLC was also responsible for forcing six of Northland’s 22 hitting errors thanks to six blocks in the match. Jenna Miller (So., Combined Locks, Wis.) led the team with three, while Katie Zietlow (So., Montello, Wis.) finished with two blocks.

In the back row, Emily Neeb (Jr., Gilbert, Ariz.) finished with a team-high 13 digs, while Heidi Moldenhauer (So., Manitowoc, Wis.) led the team with 21 assists.

Through 18 matches this season, Grev leads the Knights 192 kills (3.20 per set). Moldenhauer does all of the setting with 489 assists (8.15 per set). The back line is led by Neeb with 194 digs (3.34 per set).
