Men’s Tennis Set To Host St. Thomas In MIAC Playoff Semifinals On Thursday Posted on April 29th, 2015 by

Motasem Al-Houni and the rest of the Gustavus men's tennis team will face St. Thomas in the MIAC Playoff Semifinals on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in St. Peter.

St. Peter, Minn. – Securing the No. 1 seed in the MIAC Playoffs after clinching its 27th straight MIAC Championship in unbeaten fashion at 9-0 in league play, the Gustavus men’s tennis team now has an opponent for its semifinal matchup set to be played on Thursday, April 30 at 4:30 p.m. at the Brown Outdoor Courts. The Gusties will face No. 4-seeded St. Thomas following a Tommie victory over Macalester by the score of 6-3 in Tuesday’s opening round contest.

Gustavus enters the postseason with an overall record of 17-10, while St. Thomas is now 11-5 after its win over the Scots. The Gusties and Tommies met in the regular season finale on Sunday, April 26 at St. Paul Academy. Gustavus earned all three doubles points before going on to take five of the six doubles points in what was an 8-1 victory.

Live scoring will be provided for Thursday’s match. In the event of rain or inclement weather, the match will be moved indoors to the nearby Swanson Tennis Center.

The two semifinal winners advance to Saturday’s championship match, which will be played at 1 p.m. on the home court of the top remaining seed. The MIAC Playoff champion will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Playoffs.
