Parents: Joe and Jean Solis of Centennial, Colorado

Zac Solis entered the 2015 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships looking to put the finishing touches on what was an already brilliant senior season.  When the water of the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center finally calmed following the three day meet, Zac had done just that and more.  The reigning MIAC Champion in the 500-freestyle, Solis successfully defended his title by posting an NCAA B cut time of 4:33.27 – nearly five seconds ahead of the second place finisher.  Following runner-up finishes in both the 200 free and 1,650 free in 2014, Solis refused to be denied at his last conference meet.  He touched the wall in 1:41.18 to win the 200 and turned in an NCAA B cut time of 16:07.27 to take gold in the 1,650.  To go along with his three freestyle wins, Solis also helped the 800-free relay team to a second place finish.  The Centennial, Colorado native was responsible for a career-best 94 points over the course of the meet.  This is the second consecutive month that Solis has received Gustavus Athlete-of-the-Month recognition.

JENNIFER STROM

Hometown: Rochester, Minnesota
High School: Century
Parents: James and Desiree Strom of Rochester, Minnesota

Although she helped several relays hold their own against a slew of Division I opponents at the Minnesota Challenge to begin the month, it was Jennifer Strom’s performance at the 2015 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships that set her apart.  Making the most of the last conference meet of her standout collegiate career, Strom was all business from start-to-finish as she led the Gusties to a sixth straight MIAC Championship.  The Rochester, Minnesota product was responsible to 174 points, which included three individual gold medals, two relay golds, and another silver medal relay swim.  One of the MIAC’s best breaststrokers in history, Strom won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke for the fourth straight season.  She touched up in an MIAC record 1:02.70 in the 100 and 2:17.39 in the 200.  Strom also won the 500 free for the second straight season, recording a time of 5:02.53.  The senior contributed to the first place finishes of the 800-free relay (7:39.47) and 400-medley relay (3:47.68), and second place showing of the 200-medley relay (1:43.55).
