Men’s Basketball Looks To Keep Rolling, Hosts Saint Mary’s Saturday Posted on February 15th, 2014 by

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s basketball team will look for its fourth straight win on Saturday when it hosts Saint Mary’s University at Gus Young Court.  Saturday’s opening tip is set for 3:00 p.m., directly following the women’s game.

Gustavus enters the weekend with a record of 15-8 overall and 12-6 in the MIAC and is coming off three straight wins.  The last of these three wins was a 68-64 win over Bethel on Wednesday night in Arden Hills, Minn.  Trailing by four points with three minutes remaining, the Gusties finished the game on an 8-0 run to capture the win.

Saint Mary’s comes into the contest after suffering consecutive losses to Carleton (62-51) in Winona, Minn., and St. Thomas (92-59) in St. Paul.  The Cardinals’ last win came on Monday, Feb. 3rd when they defeated Macalester 79-48 in St. Paul.

Not only is Saturday’s game designated as Senior Day, but it will also be St. Peter Youth Basketball Day at Gus Young Court.  All St. Peter students ages 18 and under will receive free admission and a team poster at both the women’s game at 1:00 p.m. and the men’s game at 3:00 p.m.  After each game the Gustavus players will be available to sign autographs.

Fans can follow all of the action on Wednesday by watching the live video or by following the live stats provided by the Gustavus sports information department.  The Gusties will also be on the radio, as Tom Wheeler will be on hand for the live call, which can be found on AM 860 KNUJ or on GameCentral.
