Grant Leisner picked up a three-set win over Jeremy Bush in Saturday’s loss to Wash U.

Jackson, Wis. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss at the hands of No. 4-ranked Washington University (Mo.) on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club.  The Bears swept the doubles competition before picking up three more wins in singles.  Gustavus drops to 1-1 on the year, while Washington wins its season-opener.

Earning victories for Gustavus was Mya Smith-Dennis (Sr., Savage, Minn.) at No. 1, Grant Leisner (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) at No. 2, and Motasem Al-Houni (Tripoli, Libya) at No. 6.  Leisner’s win was a three-set (3-6, 6-3, 10-8) upset over 26th-ranked Jeremy Bush.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team will be back on the court on Saturday, Feb. 15 when it hosts a triple-header at the Swanson Tennis Center.  The Gusties will face UW-Eau Claire at 9:00 a.m., the College of St. Scholastica at 12:30 p.m., and Hamline University at 6:30 p.m.
