St. Peter, Minn. – Members of the 2013 Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team returned to campus on Friday, Aug. 16 and Head Coach Rachelle Sherden is praising the energy level in the gym early on in training camp.
“We moved in on Friday and since we’ve been back we’ve had eight practices in three days,” said Sherden. “We’ve had high expectations from the beginning and everyone has been fulfilling those expectations. Even though we have a team that is half newcomers and half returners, we’re already seeing chemistry and that’s awesome.”
Coach Sherden, now in the start of her fourth season at the head of the Gustavus volleyball program, welcomed 13 returning players and 11 new faces back to Gus Young Court for fall camp.
Gustavus’s 2013 schedule will begin the weekend of Aug. 30-31 when the Gusties travel to Winona, Minn. to take part in the Saint Mary’s Tournament. Sherden’s club will face Luther (4:00 p.m.) and UW-Stout (8:00 p.m.) on Friday and Dominican (10:00 a.m.) and Lakeland (2:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
