Andrew Brandt recorded the first top five finish of his career after tying for second.

LeSueur, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team finished first in a field of 10 teams at the Bobby Krig Invitational on Friday held at the LeSueur Country Club.  It was a round that included firsts for three Gusties as they landed in the top 10 with three of their teammates for a total of six players – two of which represented the Gustavus Black team and another that represented the Gustavus White team – in the top 10 of a field of 50 golfers.  The Gusties totaled a score of 298 (+18) on the round to place them six strokes in front of the second place finisher, Saint John’s.

After sharing first in last weekend’s Saint John’s Spring Invitational, Andrew Krasaway (Fr., Hermantown, Minn.) put forth another strong showing on Friday.  The freshman produced a two-over par 72 to lead the Gustavus Black team and tie for second in the individual standings behind Drew Lynch of Saint John’s, who recorded a one-under 69 on the day.

Krasaway tied with his teammate Andrew Brandt (Fr., Medina, Minn.) as runner up.  Brandt shot an identical two-over 72 and finished in the top five for the first time in his collegiate career.  In fact, Brandt had not finished in the top 10 in his college career before placing second on Friday.

Following Krasaway and Brandt was Tyler McMorrow (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) with a fourth place finish.  McMorrow turned in a four-over-par 74 on his way to racking up his sixth top-five finish of the year.  Next came Alex Kolquist (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) and Lee Bystrom (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) of the Gustavus White team.  Kolquist and Bystrom finished tied for fifth at five-over with a round of 75.  For Bystrom, it was his first top-five finish of his career at Gustavus.  Like Brandt, it was also his first top 10 finish representing the Three Crowns.

Rounding out the six Gusties to finish in the top 10 was Sam Peterson (Fr., Benson, Minn.) from the Gustavus Black team.  Peterson tied for eighth place with a round of 76 (+6), marking his first top 10 finish in his debut season at Gustavus.

The Gusties will next take part in the 2013 NCAA Championships held the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida on Tuesday, May 14th through Friday, May 17th.
