St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s tennis team captured a pair of wins against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foes on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center.  The Gusties first defeated Saint Mary’s University by a final tally of 8-1 before beating Bethel University 9-0 to complete the afternoon.  With the wins, Gustavus improves to 7-6 on the spring.

The Gustie women opened the afternoon with a sweep of the doubles competition over Saint Mary’s.  Gustavus enjoyed an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, and 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, and capped off the sweep with an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.  From there, the Gusties went on to capture five of the six available points in the singles competition to take the match by a final score of 8-1.

Gustavus then continued on to grab a clean sweep of Bethel with a 9-0 win later in the day.  The Gusties began by sweeping the doubles competition by scores of 8-6, 8-2, and 8-2.  They then continued on to sweep all six singles, dropping just two sets in the process and pushed on for the 9-0 win.

The Gusties will next take to the court on Saturday, April 20th when they travel to Northfield to take on St. Olaf.
