Women’s Golf Heads To Wartburg Invite This Weekend Posted on September 7th, 2012 by

The Gustavus women’s golf team will travel to Waverly, Iowa to take part in the Wartburg College Invitational held Sept. 8-9 at the Centennial Oaks Country Club.

The Gusties are most recently coming off a strong showing in their season debut at the Georgianni Memorial Invite held last weekend in Eau Claire, Wis.  Gustavus finished runner-up with a 324-324-648 (+68), finishing just two strokes behind Washington University (Mo.).

Team captains Sam Falk (So., Glenwood, Minn.) and Kayleigh Dittes (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.)led the team with a third and seventh place finish, respectively.  Falk shot a 156 (+11), while Dittes fired a 159 (+14). The Glenwood product also earned MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete-of-the-Week honors for her performance.

Head Coach Scott Moe’s squad is making its first trip back to the Wartburg Invite since the 2010-11 season.  The Gusties finished third that year after shooting a two-day 674 (+98).  Dittes and Jessica Skaare (Jr., Blue Earth, Minn.) are the only two remaining players on the team who played in that tournament.  Dittes shot a 176 (+32) to finish 25th and Skaare shot a 195 (+51) take place 60th.

First round results will be posted to the Gustavus Athletics website following Saturday’s play.
