After defeating Concordia College 4-2 last Saturday afternoon for the MIAC Playoff Championship, the Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to host a familiar foe on the national stage – the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The Gusties and Falcons will face off in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament at Don Roberts Ice Rink on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The Three Crowns are making their ninth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Tournament with a 23-2-2 overall record, while the Falcons enter the match-up with a 23-4-2 overall mark.

The two squads will meet in the first round on the national stage for the fourth-straight season. Gustavus has won the last two. Back on Dec. 6 this season, the Gusties and Falcons skated to a 1-1 tie at Don Roberts Ice Rink. River Falls took a 1-0 lead at the 17:46 mark in the second on a goal by Kait Mason and the Gusties netted the equalizer 4:23 into the third off the stick of Melissa Doyle.
