Another Top 10 Battle Tuesday As Women’s Hockey Travels To UW-Superior Posted on January 31st, 2012 by

Gustavus and UW-Superior are set for game two of this season's series. The Gusties claimed game one 1-0 in overtime back on Dec. 13 in St. Peter, Minn.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets on Tuesday night in Superior, Wis. at 7:00 p.m. The Gusties come into the match-up ranked No. 5 in the nation, and No. 1 in the West Region, according to the latest United States College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) poll with a 14-0-2 overall record and 9-0-1 mark in the MIAC. Superior is ranked No. 10 in the USCHO.com poll – 4th in the West – with an 11-5-2 overall mark and 10-3-1 record in the NCHA.

This past weekend, Gustavus defeated No. 9 Concordia 4-1 Friday, but found itself down 3-1 late in the third period the following day. The Gusties used two quick goals within :11 of each other to tie the game, but were unable to net the game-winner and eventually skated to a 3-3 tie in overtime, ending a six-game win streak. The Yellowjackets are fresh off a clean sweep of NCHA foe UW-Stevens Point last weekend, defeating the Pointers 3-1 and 6-2. Superior is currently riding a four-game win streak, its longest of the season.
